I didn’t know what it was going to be, but I knew we were coming to a special place. I got my breakthrough win here [at Torrey Pines], and it’s a special place for my family. The fact that my parents were able to come, I got out of COVID protocol early, I just felt like the stars were aligning.”
It is Rahm’s first victory at a major, and he is the first Spaniard to win the U.S. Open.
“This was definitely for Seve [Ballesteros],” Rahm said of the Spanish golf legend who won the Masters twice and the British Open three times but never won the U.S. Open.
