Bill Agresta is entering the Saginaw County Sports Hall of Fame as one of the top cross country coaches in the state.
But Agresta was also a successful basketball and football coach at Hemlock and Saginaw St. Mary’s Cathedral.
That doesn’t surprise Freeland cross country coach George Drown, who was one of Agresta’s top runners at Hemlock.
“Bill’s greatest asset as a coach was getting to know the athlete,” Drown said. “A lot of people know the X’s and O’s. Bill had the ability to truly care about each of his athletes and understand what makes them tick, how far he can push them … that’s what made him a Hall of Fame coach.”
