Kirtland City Council has approved the initial step toward funding this year’s road improvement plan with passage of the annual budget appropriations this week.
However, the infrastructure upgrades themselves still will need to be brought to City Council for a vote.
The $14.26 million budget includes $200,000 from the General Fund being moved to the Street Improvement Fund. A total of $2.2 million is allocated for road improvements in 2021.
The balance of the funding would come from a $2 million bond anticipation note, $19,000 in road levy revenue and in-kind services provided by the Service Department, according to Mayor Kevin Potter’s plan.
