When Carrie Fisher was announced as a recipient of a star on the Walk of Fame, Mark Hamill took to Twitter to give his “space sis” a special tribute.
Star Wars Mark Hamill has taken to social media to provide a touching, and slightly cheeky, tribute to his late co-star Carrie Fisher after it was announced that she would be getting her posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Hamill, who first met Fisher while filming 1977’s original Star Wars, remained close to the actress he affectionately refers to as his “space sis.” Shortly after Fisher died in 2016, a devoted fan had even made Fisher her own makeshift star on the infamous Walk of Fame until she received an official star of her own.
She is best known as the fearless Princess Leia, but Fisher’s legacy spans over 40 years of film and television credits. She is also the author of four novels, three non-fiction books, multiple stage plays/screenplays, and a tireless advocate for mental health and addiction recovery. While returning home following the European leg of her book tour for her memoir The Princess Diarist, Fisher suffered a medical emergency on a flight from London to Los Angeles. After four days in intensive care, Fisher passed in December 27,2016, leaving millions of devoted fans in mourning.
