This July for the second year in a row, Marvel Studios and DC Films are skipping out on presentations for the online San Diego Comic-Con@Home.

Marvel Studios and Warner Bros. DC Films are skipping out on presentations at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con@Home 2021. San Diego Comic-Con has become the number one spot for the major studios to tease their upcoming projects, with Marvel Studios and DC Films often having given presentations. Fans got their first announcement for Marvel Phase 4 at Comic-Con 2019 and the trailers for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad became some of the most talked-about trailers at the convention in 2015.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic last year, San Diego Comic-Con opted for an online presentation to make up for the fact that large crowds could not gather. Due to the then uncertain state of the 2020 film release schedule, many of the major studios opted out of presentations with the only major film to bring a presentation to the San Diego Comic-Con@Home 2020 was New Mutants. San Diego Comic-Con will have an in-person convention the week of Thanksgiving, but will still hold an online presentation from Friday, July 23 to Sunday, July 25 as the summer has often been a tradition.
