Ron Perlman has some strong words for the critics and viewers who have given Don’t Look Up negative reviews. Oscar-nominated director Adam McKay has returned to the awards conversation with Don’t Look Up, a star-studded climate change allegory that debuted on Netflix at the end of 2021. It mainly focuses on the fruitless efforts of scientists Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence) to convince the world that a comet with the ability to kill all of humanity is headed towards Earth in just 6 months. Since its debut, Don’t Look Up has become one of the biggest Netflix films of all time and drummed up numerous nominations (and a few wins) from various awards bodies.
Nevertheless, Don’t Look Up has inspired some incredibly divisive reactions online. While there are many who praised McKay’s humor and the performances of its cast – which also includes Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, Jonah Hill, and Timothée Chalamet – there are just as many who have lambasted the film. Don’t Look Up‘s biggest critics have mocked McKay’s heavy-handed approach to his climate change message and its skewed tone.
