Fans got the first look and listen at Zendaya’s version of Lola Bunny in a new video promoting Warner Bros.’ upcoming Space Jam sequel, Space Jam: A New Legacy.
Titled “The Bunny & The GOAT,” the ad operates as a parody of ESPN’s popular 30 for 30 documentary series, not unlike a similar promotional video made for Cobra Kai back in 2019. In addition to airing on ESPN, the new Space Jam ad is currently streaming on YouTube. Among other things, the mockumentary explains why NBA star Lebron James ended up in another dimension alongside the Looney Tunes in the first place.
“So cute to watch them bicker when everyone knows this is Lola’s team,” Zendaya’s Lola says at one point in the spot, while sitting for an interview on an animated couch. “It makes it sound like Lebron had to save us. We’re the best teammates he’s ever had. You know, don’t love the sidekick label, but we’ll let it go because… Lebron.” Lola’s comments are in response to Bugs Bunny’s suggestion, “I’m the face of this team. It’s called the Tune Squad, not the Bros Squad.”
