While the plot for the upcoming fourth installment in The Matrix franchise has been kept under wraps for the most part, more details about the cast are being revealed.

According to a recent casting announcement from Warner Bros. reported by Collider, Christina Ricci is the latest actor to be added to the much-anticipated sequel, tentatively titled The Matrix 4.

So far details of her character remain unknown but she joined an already star-studded cast that includes no less than five franchise favorites, including Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Ann Moss.

Since the science fiction action film wrapped principal shooting back in November 2020, Ricci’s role was either part of the storyline all along and it was kept quiet, or she’s involved in some additional scenes during post-production.

The Matrix 4 was co-written, directed and produced by Lana Wachowski, who co-directed and co-wrote the three previous films with her sister Lilly Wachowski.

Ricci, 41, previously worked with Wachowski in the sports action comedy film Speed Racer (2008).
