Local residents throughout the Sacramento region can attend virtual and in-person tax help workshops this month to learn how to file their taxes online for free through United Way California Capital Region’s Free Tax Prep program.

IRS-certified volunteers will help participants prepare their own tax returns and answer questions before filing. An in-person workshop is scheduled for March 18, and a virtual workshop will be held on March 26. To learn more and register, visit YourFreeTaxPrep.org.

Households that earned less than $65,000 in 2021 can file their taxes for free through United Way’s Free Tax Prep program and receive up to $8,000 cashback from state and federal credits, including the federal and state Earned Income Tax Credits (EITC and CalEITC).
